I graduated in 1980 from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, with a Bachelors degree in Communication Disorders. I worked for 13 years for the State of Massachusetts as a Speech Therapist working with Developmentally Disabled young adults at two residential facilities.
In 1993, my husband decided that he wanted to move to Maine to practice medicine and we ended up in Lincoln, Maine after visiting many other Maine communities. I graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 2000 with an M.A degree in communication disorders. I have been involved in my professional organization the Maine Speech Hearing Language Association (MSHLA) since living in Maine and for the past six years was chairperson of the school practice committee. I was elected in 2011 to be on the Continuing Education Committee.
I am married to my best friend for the past 32 years and have three children, who have graduated from Mattanawcook Academy. I have two dogs, Annie, who is a Labrador retriever and Harley, who is a Boston terrier. When I am not in school doing the job that I love, I like to read books, knit, relax at my camp in southern Maine and go for rides on my husband’s motorcycle. Every year, during summer vacation, my husband and I ride on his motorcycle to a new place that we have not visited before. We have gone to Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, the Gaspe region of Quebec, Niagara Falls and Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. This past summer we went to Wyoming to see Yellowstone National Park, Montana, South Dakota to see Mt. Rushmore.

Mrs. Chasse, Speech Language Pathology Assistant

Greetings,
My name is Rita Chasse and I am a Speech Language Pathologist Assistant at RSU 67.
My journey began as a volunteer in the Medway and East Millinocket area. My love of children, as I have five of my own, encouraged me to become an Ed-Tech in the year of 2003.
My talents as a singer and guitar player, knitting, wood working, oil painting, gardener and crafter adds color and excitement to the children’s sessions. Reading is a passion of mine and opens new adventures to our little ones being serviced as we always try to end our session with a story. To encompass and open their eyes and minds to the world that is waiting for them with correct articulation and proper language is truly a treasure to behold and a fulfilling profession for me.
I entered as a part time college student while continuing to work a full time job to achieve my dream. I graduated in 2007 the same year as my youngest daughter’s graduation from Maine Maritime Academy. At this time I had become an Assistant Center Coordinator for the Day Care/ Head Start program in East Millinocket.
I was hired by RSU 67 in February of 2008 where I continue to work as a part of a wonderful team centered group of professionals who work for the betterment of every child that goes to our schools showing them kindness, compassion, and caring.
